Libraries are building types that have the capacity to provide wide social benefits. It must be noted that the building type is also evolving and as such they require consideration of its context, the time and future projections.
In the case of La Horquetta Library its location within a civic block in the heart of a large residential community in the La Horquetta/ TalparoArea; offers this building the opportunity to act as a center of gravity.
In recent years it has become important for government projects to explore ways in which their buildings can generate income, this is no different for the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS). In this regard the brief allocates spaces that can be rented which will contribute significantly to NALIS’s goals to achieve its mandate and operations. The following spaces defined by the User Requirements and executed by the architect, are all at the ground floor plane and represent the revenue generation level.
